Home of the free.

I landed in SFO less than 48 hours ago and already I'm right back in the swing of things.  I've got my iced coffee from Pete's Coffee and I've been to the beach to enjoy the sunshine.  When I got out of the car the sea air singed my nostrils within the first breath.  I took in my second breath nice and deep to make sure I got every last scent in the air.  It's so good.  I'm so happy to be home and can't wait to share more of it with you. dd

Man In The Mirror

Seriously obsessing over this. I have been thinking about it all day!  I think I'm going to have to cough up the outrageous price for this little guy just so I can laugh every time I look in the mirror.  But isn't that what life is all about? dd

Rosie Lee

This Saturday I put on a Thanksgiving feast for my family here in London.  It is my absolute favorite holiday of the year!  It's all about the family and the food.  Everyone gathers round the table, shares their stories over the past year and feasts on a enormous amount of food.  Then to only be further stuffed with pumpkin pie and whipped cream.  What is not to love?

While picking up the pumpkin pies at Whole Foods last Friday night, I picked up a treat for myself as well.  I can't go to Whole Foods without walking away with a butter LONDON nail varnish.  They are just too good and always catch my eye on the way out.  My latest procurement was Rosie Lee.  A sweet and playful glitter rose colored varnish.  A few coats are certainly needed, but the outcome is fun and really grabs attention!

butter LONDON is an amazing brand.  With a motto of Fashion and Rock and Roll, they already get my vote.  But aside from the wild lifestyle these beauty geniuses lead, butter LONDON is one of the only brands that I can think of that still brings all the style and on trend colors that is expected of a luxury nail varnish brand but also is free of all nasties like Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP or Parabens in their '3 Free' collection.  They are the first brand to do so in United States.  Good on them!  And above all else, they top all of their applicators with a crowned raven. So Fashion and Rock and Roll! dd

Diddy Driver

I'm not a frou frou kind of person, but these little puppies are seriously too cute. He's driving a monster truck!  I absolutely want one.  Now.  dd

Wrap it up.

I popped into TK Maxx today.  It is one of my favorite places to browse and wander around.  Not to mention that I can usually afford most things I find.  Today I came away with this warm and cosy cashmere scarf.  I wouldn't say it's Winter just yet, but there is certainly a bit of a chill in the air lately.

So wrap up warm, because Winter is on it's way soon! dd

Floor Length Florals

I found this skirt on one of those days when you're looking for something specific but instead you find something you don't need but just have to have.  This skirt is amazing on!  It cinches your waist right in and actually keeps your legs warm from the cold. It's my favorite piece for the cold months to come.  To show a bit of skin I've paired it with a cropped corset. The lace brings a nice contrast to the flowers, but not over powering. Then to top it off I like the sequin cardigan.  It brings a bit of fun and brightens up the whole outfit.  dd

Winter Wonders

With Winter surely on it's way now, it's time to get your skin care routine in check.  Whether you need to clean the summer scalelies to get your glow back or boost the skin with a surge of moisture.  This past month I have been prepping my skin with a few products that I think you need to know about.

To start, I have been using Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque.  It's actually made with clay from the Amazon River.  Who knew a river bed could be so purifying!  The masque goes on smooth and has an instant calming and soothing presence on the skin.  After applying once a week for the past month I can see that my skin's luminance has been restored and my pores are more refined.  Exactly what the doctor ordered!

After cleansing and using the Kiehl's masque I have been moisturising with Chanel Hydramax + Active Nutrition.  I have been struggling to find a balanced moisturiser for my skin in the past.  My skin was either left too dry or really oily.  I'm so happy to have found that perfect balance with Chanel Hydramax.  Ask for a sample at your closest Chanel counter!

And of course there is nothing like staying healthy and hydrated from the inside.  A daily multi vitamin and plenty of water will keep your skin glowing all season.  dd

Heeled

The Winter is finally falling upon us here in London and that means it's time to get the Winter wardrobe out and in force.  The one thing that I needed to invest in this season was the knee high boot.  And the burgundy/merlot colour that is dominating the trends this season is so alluring that I just had to have these lovelies.  The heel stacks up just under 4 inches and they are made of a soft leather that is sturdy enough to stand tall all day.  I have been pairing them with a vintage suede calf length skirt lately, but I am thinking of putting them over some tights with a mini skirt this weekend.  dd

Fizzy Friday!

Happy National Champagne Day!  I'm just about to go celebrate with a cold glass of fizz myself.  I love nothing more than a glistening glass of the bubbly stuff.  The way it feels a bit special, makes you feel a bit silly and makes you feel like a lady.  It's my absolute favourite.  Enjoy! dd

White Cube

I took a quick trip to White Cube in Bermondsey today.  A gorgeous big white warehouse lit to a buzzing white perfection.  The big glass doors opened up to welcome me in to the white wash walls.  As there is no photography allowed once inside the building, I’m sorry I can’t share any snap shots with you other than the sign outside.

The first piece to really catch my eye was that of Cerith Wyn Evans.  The Welsh artist had a neon poem of sorts that wrapped around the room. Seven crystal flutes hung from the ceiling above the neon installation that sent haunting notes throughout the entire building, adding to the creep in the air.  However, I think the creepiest part of the whole place were the many staff and security that were dotted around just standing there reading books dressed in black.  I know they are there to make sure visitors stay in line, but it felt more like I was on display than the art.  There was always someone looking at you with judging eyes.  Made for a rather uncomfortable wander.

My favorite installation was just a huge case of little colorful bits and bobs.  However, on closer inspection it was a very large medicine cabinet.  There were hundreds of colorful pills placed so neatly in rows.  It makes you think of all the synthetics and xyz's that we ingest every year.  Yet it was such a delicate piece that you couldn't help but stare and marvel over all of the different prescriptions. dd

Life is so dainty, yet we live in this big digital world.  I love both worlds.  And I want to bring the two together.  Here's to merging the best of both. dd
